Mbabane: Nkilongo Member of Parliament Timothy Myeni has pleaded with the government to assist his constituency to build their own Inkhundla structure as they currently using a leased structure.

Nkilongo constituency is currently housed at one structure belonging to Matata at Big Bend.

Myeni was speaking during Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini’s tour of the Lower Usuthu Smallholder Development Project (LUSIP) which concluded at Nkilongo Inkhundla. Myeni said his constituency was left behind when government was deliberating budget for the newly established Tinkhundla in the country.

Nkilongo Inkhundla is amongst the new constituencies that were established by His Majesty King Mswati III in 2018 and the other constituencies that were established were Phondo, Siphocosini, Nkomiyahlaba, Gilgal and Mashayekhatsi.

In February 2018, one of the local newspapers reported that the new Tinkhundla centres were to cost E126 million. It was reported that Former Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development Mduduzi ‘Small Joe’ Dlamini justified the cost by mentioning that the structures were to accommodate more government departments to facilitate decentralisation. Dlamini said the new structures would cost around E6 to E7 million.

The establishment of the new constituencies saw the number of Tinkhundla increasing to 59 following merging of Hlane and Dvokodvweni Inkhundla.
