Mbabane – American internet personality Darren Jason Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, placed the Kingdom of Eswatini before a global audience following his recent visit during an ongoing African tour.
Watkins, born on January 21, 2005, ranks among the world’s most influential online streamers, known for a loud, energetic and unpredictable style that attracts millions of followers across YouTube and other digital platforms. His real life streams are widely watched and often introduce international audiences to new cultures and destinations.
During his time in Eswatini, IShowSpeed engaged directly with local traditions and communities. One of the most watched moments from the visit was his participation in kubutse, a traditional welcoming ceremony, where he received the Siswati name Logijimako. The cultural exchange generated strong reactions online, with both local viewers and international fans praising Eswatini’s traditions and hospitality.
TikTok statistics show that Eswatini ranked seventh among African countries featured in IShowSpeed’s streams, recording about 2.26 million views. Ethiopia recorded over 10 million views, Kenya 9.6 million and South Africa 4.9 million. The figures placed Eswatini among the more watched destinations on the tour despite its smaller population and limited international exposure compared to larger countries.
IShowSpeed’s African streams have so far covered 20 countries, including Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola, Zambia and Mozambique. His movements across the continent have fueled discussions around African tourism, youth culture and the growing role of digital creators in shaping global perceptions.
