Mbabane – Mandlenkhosi Nkhosikhona Dlamini, 22, from Elangeni, has been convicted of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft after breaking into a homestead and taking property valued at E74,500.
The Mbabane Magistrates’ Court heard that on 19 December 2025, Dlamini unlawfully entered the house of Mafihlo Dlamini in the Hhohho District by breaking the door and stole household items, traditional regalia, and other property in the lawful possession of the complainant.
The stolen items included two Udada valued at E26,000, two Emasondvo at E14,000, two Tigeja at E4,000, various Tingence temkhono and tesandla, Timbeleko tensumpe, Tikhumba temsumpe and tempunzi, Emajobho etinhloko tetimpunzi, two Tiphandla, Inyoni at E9,000, a box of old coins and notes at E4,000, three Emawoza at E4,500, two Emacandza at E2,700, two Imigaca yasimohlwana at E3,000, seven Imihlandla at E1,750, three Tinkonyane at E2,100, Kwekugaba at E3,000, Sikhumba at E3,500, a green trunk at E350, Tinjobo at E250, Tinsiba tekuthloma at E600, and Indlamu at E3,000. The total value of the stolen property was E74,500.
When questioned, Dlamini admitted to breaking the door to gain entry. Some of the stolen items were later recovered and are to be returned to the complainant, while others remain missing.
In mitigation, Dlamini told the court, “I was drunk, the alcohol made me steal,” and he apologized for his actions.
The court convicted Dlamini and sentenced him to pay a fine of E2,000 or, in default, serve two years’ imprisonment.
