Mbabane: The Kingdom of Eswatini is one of the first Southern African countries to receive the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Safe Travels Stamp.

Known for its rich culture, stunning scenery and thrilling safaris, The Kingdom of Eswatini has been awarded the “Safe Travels Stamp” of approval by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) for its recently implemented Health and Safety guidelines. This is a wonderful achievement for this small southern Africa destination.

These guidelines were meant to give travelers the confidence to travel to and around the country as safely as possible when borders reopen.

The guidelines were developed by the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) and Hospitality & Tourism Association of Eswatini (HOTAES) based on extensive engagement with the WHO and Eswatini Ministry of Health.

According to information sourced from the Eswatini Tourism Authority website, In the Southern African Region, Eswatini has been amongst the first destinations to have received the “Safe Travels Stamp”. The “Safe Travels Stamp” is the first ever global safety and hygiene stamp, which allows travelers to recognize destinations and businesses around the world that have adopted health and hygiene global standardized protocols.

The protocols were defined following the experience of WTTC members in dealing with the coronavirus and based on the best available medical evidence. It follows guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, USA) and is also backed by the World Tourism Organization (WTO).

The Safe Travels stamp is the world’s first ever global safety and hygiene stamp for travel and tourism, designed specifically to address COVID-19 and similar outbreaks. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) which represents the global Travel and Tourism private sector, created the Safe Travels stamp to allow travelers to identify destinations and businesses around the world which have adopted the global standardized health and hygiene protocols.
