MBABANE – The 5th edition of the annual Makoti Festival has issued a vibrant call to patrons to attend the event dressed in their respective traditional attire, reinforcing the festival’s core celebration of culture and heritage.
This event is scheduled to take place on the 25th of April, at Malkern Country Club. Festival Director, Thembinkosi Mthethwa, in an interview with another publication said the dress code aligns naturally with the festival’s traditional foundation.
“We know that our traditional attire is very beautiful and we also have an amazing culture in the country. By adorning our imvunulo, this will show tourists the beauty of our attire and also teach them more about it,” he said.
Mthethwa added that with other countries taking part in the festival, the event also presents an opportunity for cultural exchange.
“Since there are also other countries involved in the festival, we hope that the other nations will also come dressed in their traditional wear and there will be an exchange of cultural values,” he noted.
In the lead-up to the event, videos promoting traditional wear for the Makoti Festival have been circulating widely online, building excitement and encouraging cultural pride among prospective attendees. According to information shared on the Ministry of Entertainment Eswatini Facebook page, the festival is expected to attract approximately 7,000 patrons.
Organisers promise an unforgettable experience that brings together culture, music and community in a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.
While the full line-up of artists and performers is yet to be announced, attendees can look forward to captivating performances, delicious local cuisine and a variety of activities catering to all ages. Whether one is a music enthusiast, a food lover or someone eager to immerse themselves in Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage, the Makoti Festival is poised to offer something for everyone.
