Mayiwane – Honourable Khunga Nkhosi, MP for Mayiwane, has called on residents to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains continue to batter the country, causing widespread damage to roads, bridges, homes, and livelihoods.
Nkhosi said the situation is not limited to Mayiwane, with many regions facing similar challenges. He warned that overflowing rivers and damaged bridges are a serious danger, urging residents not to cross flooded rivers or use risky shortcuts. Parents were also advised to avoid sending young children to shops or on errands alone during this period.

The MP assured the public that government will act swiftly to restore damaged infrastructure once the rains subside. Mayiwane Inkhundla Council, together with relevant authorities, is available to provide assistance and support. Residents are urged to report household damages through emergency numbers 977, 999, and 933, available 24/7.
Nkhosi encouraged communities to remain vigilant, patient, and supportive of one another as they navigate the effects of the heavy rainfall.
