MASERU – Former South African President Thabo Mbeki visited Lesotho this week to participate in the 30th anniversary commemoration of His Majesty King Moshoeshoe II, engaging with national leaders and delivering a Memorial Lecture.
Mbeki paid courtesy calls to Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane and King Letsie III at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Wednesday, sharing insights on leadership and reflecting on the late king’s legacy. He delivered the Memorial Lecture Wednesday evening, ahead of the main commemoration at Thaba-Bosiu on Thursday, January 15 2026.
During Thursday’s prayer service at Thaba-Bosiu, Mbeki joined other dignitaries and members of the public in honouring King Moshoeshoe II, whose leadership and vision helped shape the Basotho nation.
