BHUNYA – Detectives from the Bhunya Police Station have taken two men into custody following disturbing allegations of sexual assault, marking a grim end to the year for two families in the Manzini region.
The arrests come as the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) continues its crackdown on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) across the Kingdom. Both suspects are expected to face the law at the Manzini Magistrates Court today.
The first case has sent shockwaves through the community of Zondwako. A 42 year old man stands accused of repeatedly violating his own daughter over a period of five years. Investigators revealed that the ordeal began in 2020 when the girl was only 14 years old.
According to police reports, the suspect used his position of authority and his consultation room, known as an indumba, to commit the crimes. He allegedly manipulated the teenager by claiming that sexual relations with relatives were culturally acceptable. To ensure her silence, he reportedly threatened her with death.
The cycle of abuse only came to light recently after the now 19 year old victim discovered she was pregnant. Finding the courage to speak out, she confided in her mother. Her uncles were immediately informed and took decisive action. On December 31, 2025, the family escorted her to the Manzini One Stop Centre to record a statement. The matter was subsequently handed over to Bhunya police, resulting in the father’s arrest under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act of 2018.
In a separate incident handled by the same station, a 24 year old man from Mangcongco was arrested for the alleged rape of a 16 year old girl from his neighborhood. Details surrounding this second case remain brief as investigations continue, but police confirmed the suspect was apprehended shortly after the report was filed.
