Mbabane – A 46-year-old rape-accused man of Dlangeni has been told by the Mbabane Magistrates Court to approach the High Court for a review abut his sentencing to 45 years for his daughter’s rape charges.
The accused is in custody, subject to lodging a review at the High Court, facing three counts of contravening section 3(1), 3(2), 3(3) c, 3(6) e, as read with 3(9) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act of 2018 in that he allegedly repeatedly raping his biological daughter from the time she was six or seven years old until she was 16.
Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi issued the sentence without the option of a fine after finding him guilty. During his trial, the accused denied the charges. The prosecution’s evidence illustrated not only did his conduct inflict trauma upon the young victim but also the community as a whole.
According to the charge sheet, he has been sexually assaulting his daughter for a period of over 10 years. His sentence will be backdated since 2014 when he was arrested.
