Mbabane – The saga over the Miss Eswatini 2024 prize car continued in the High Court as the vehicle was once again not delivered.
Oukitel Eswatini managing director Mduduzi Shongwe told the court that he plans to travel to South Africa on Tuesday to clear the prize vehicle with the relevant authorities so it can be fully registered before delivery. He requested the matter be postponed to February 16 2025 to allow time for the process.
The court had previously ruled that failure to deliver the car by the agreed date would amount to contempt, a ruling that could have led to Shongwe being committed to jail.
Miss Eswatini 2024 Temvelo Mtsetfwa was promised a Jaecoo J7 by pageant organisers Kwando Lifestyle Brands in partnership with Oukitel Eswatini. Months after her crowning in November 2024, the prize vehicle remains undelivered.
Following repeated delays, Mtsetfwa approached the High Court seeking an order compelling delivery. In her affidavit, she stated that she entered into an agreement with the pageant director in November 2024, stipulating that the car would be delivered on December 19 2024.
The matter is set to return to court on February 16 2025.
