Mbabane – The National Meteorological Service has issued a weather alert warning of severe thunderstorms expected to sweep across Eswatini from midday on 13 December until the early hours of 14 December.
The advisory was released in Mbabane and notes that the storm system may bring strong winds, hail, heavy rainfall and intense lightning. Forecasters say the conditions are likely to affect multiple parts of the country during the weekend.
Residents have been urged to limit outdoor activities during the affected period and to avoid contact with electrical infrastructure due to the risk posed by lightning. The public is also advised to refrain from using electronic devices that could increase vulnerability during lightning strikes.
Authorities caution that the weather may result in injuries, property damage and possible power interruptions. Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully as reduced visibility and slippery roads could create hazardous conditions.
