Mbabane- Prime Minister Russel Mmiso Dlamini has praised the House of Senate for its unity and called on the House of Assembly and Cabinet to draw inspiration from the collaborative spirit exhibited in the upper chamber.
Speaking at Sibane Sami Hotel during the presentation of the Police Service Regulations 2025, Dlamini commended Senate President for her immaculate leadership skills, noting that her guidance was clearly reflected in the effective functioning of the House of Senate.
“When working in unity, it is easier to achieve the mandate of an organisation,” Dlamini said. “I call on Cabinet and the House of Assembly to take a leaf from the unity found in the House of Senate, for the betterment of our country.”
The Prime Minister also presented the Police Service Regulations 2025 to the Senate Portfolio Committee, noting that the regulations had already been reviewed and passed by the House of Assembly and were now up for consideration, deliberation, and eventual enactment by the House of Senate.
Dlamini highlighted the vital role of the Royal Eswatini Police Service in maintaining law and order, safeguarding public safety, and ensuring the security of all citizens and residents of the kingdom. “As His Majesty the King and Ingwenyama emphasized from the Throne earlier this year, public safety and the apprehension of all offenders are of paramount importance,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for strengthened laws to empower and capacitate the Police Service, outlining that the regulations cover several key areas, including conduct, appointments, promotions, retirement, discipline, and the Royal Eswatini Police Service Staff Association.
He noted that Part V introduces the Police Staff Association, a platform for officers to voice welfare concerns and participate in government negotiations on issues such as remuneration and allowances. Part VI, he added, focuses on discipline, which he described as “the cornerstone of any effective law enforcement agency” and essential for public trust and high standards of service delivery.
