Mbabane – A 54 years old Jubukweni High School teacher, Mkhululi Edward Zwane, was arrested and charged for contravening section 77 of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act of 2018 for sexually violating a 16 year old pupil.
According to the charge sheet the accused person is said to have unlawfully committed sexual violation against the 16 year old pupil by ordering her to sit on his lap and touching her breast, further brushing his thighs and private parts, while at the school premises. This incident is said to have occurred on October 13.
He appeared at the Mbabane Magistrates Court on Monday. The accused appeared before the Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi, pleading guilty to the offence.
During his first appearance, he chose to conduct his own defence before he was remanded in custody until 05 March 2026 pending resetting of a trial date. However, he posted bail and the prosecution was not opposed to it.
The court set the bail amount at E5000, further ordering him to to abide by all bail conditions which include appearing in all court summons if the court requires him too, expected not to commit a similar offence while out on bail, and barred from interfering with the crown’s witnesses particularly the complaint or tries to convince her to settle matter out of court.
The charge sheet states that should he be found guilty, his name will be added to the national sex offenders’ register.
