Mbabane – Ford has revealed its updated plans for the Everest, set to launch in South Africa in the first half of 2026. The upcoming model will undergo several key changes, including an overhaul of the engine options and trim levels, and it is expected to be available at local dealerships like Autofin Ford in Mbabane.
A major change in the updated Everest is the replacement of the 2.0-litre bi-turbodiesel engine with a 2.3 EcoBoost petrol engine. This is the first time the EcoBoost engine will be available in the Everest range in South Africa, and it will deliver 222kW of power and 452Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and will be available with rear-wheel drive.
Alongside this, Ford is discontinuing the XLT trim, which had been the entry-level model in the previous generation. The XLT will be replaced by the Active trim, which will feature a single-turbo 2.0-litre engine producing 125kW and 405Nm. This engine was last offered in the previous-generation Everest and is now mated to a timing chain instead of a belt, improving durability. The Active trim will be available in both rear-wheel drive and part-time four-wheel drive configurations.
The updated range will also include the Sport model, which will continue to offer the 2.3 EcoBoost engine, while the 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 engine will remain an option for the Wildtrak and Platinum trims. The V6 engine will produce 184kW and 600Nm of torque, and will be equipped with permanent four-wheel drive as standard.
Details regarding the pricing and final specifications of the new Everest will be made available closer to its market launch in 2026. Local Ford enthusiasts can expect to find the updated model at Autofin Ford in Mbabane, where the dealership is preparing for the arrival of the latest Ford offerings.
