Hhukwini—The National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS (NERCHA) board chairperson, Ntsika Fakudze, has pledged a stronger, more coordinated HIV/AIDS fight.
Fakudze warned that the Hhohho region remains one of the hardest-hit areas in the country despite commendable progress in treatment adherence.
He was speaking at the World AIDS Day (WAD) commemoration held at the Hhukwini constituency, in the Hhohho region. Fakudze said the organisation is prepared to fight tooth and nail to curb new infections, especially among young people.
“We will mobilise the youth and encourage them to take better care of themselves. We must ensure that no one gets infected,” Fakudze said.
“We will work closely with all our programme partners and ensure every region receives the support and resources needed to strengthen HIV/AIDS interventions.”
He said tackling HIV requires combined action from government, community leaders, and independent organisations, noting that only a united approach will deliver meaningful, long-term impact.
NERCHA will ramp up community engagement, particularly with young people, while enhancing support to health facilities and regional structures. Fakudze added the organisation’s renewed offensive will focus on prevention, early treatment, and tackling the socio-economic conditions fueling vulnerability.
“We must ensure every person is protected, supported, and empowered to live a healthy life,” he said.
