Pretoria – Controversial South African businessman and alleged member of the Big Five syndicate, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, has publicly stated that the currently missing businessman, Jerry Boshoga, owes him a sum of more than R100,000.
Since his reported kidnapping in November 2024, Boshoga a Pretoria businessman and farmer, remains missing. His disappearance has become a high-profile case in South Africa, involving police and Interpol investigations, and has been linked to alleged criminal syndicates.
Matlala said Boshoga is a drug kingpin, but insists he himself is not involved in the drug trade, when asked how he came about to lending money to someone who is involved in the drug trade he said that he didn’t want to be judgemental.
Matlala says he used to lend Boshoga money, claiming he owes him around R100 000 which he borrowed him for his cattle farming business. He adds that he once loaned him R1 million for the farming venture.
According to Matlala, Boshoga disappeared while trying to buy drums of a substance used to manufacture narcotics. He says Boshoga’s brother phoned him on the night of the kidnapping, and he went to his home and spoke to his wife.
Matlala says the brother knew about Boshoga’s drug business but didn’t want to reveal it to her. He says he advised the family to tell the police the truth, but they refused, so he eventually told General Sibiya himself.
Matlala says he doesn’t know whether Boshoga is still alive or dead.
