Mbabane – Tony Sikelela Masilela of Dlozini, has been charged with the murder of Bongani Zwane. Masilela appeared at the Magistrates Fikile Nhlabatsi where the prosecutor asked that he be remanded in custody while the police continue with their investigations.
Masilela will remain in custody until Thursday, 28 November, as the court is still waiting for a committal from the High Court. When the magistrate asked him if he wanted to represent himself, Masilela said he preferred to be represented by an attorney.
Police told the court that Masilela is still being kept at the Lobamba Police Station. They explained that they are waiting to collect vital evidence from Dlozini, the place where the murder took place, but the road to the area is muddy because of heavy rains. The officers requested that he remain in their custody until Wednesday, when the weather improves and they are able to reach the scene.
The matter was postponed to Thursday 28 November for further court proceedings.
