Matsapha – The Deputy Prime Minister Honourable Thulisile Dladla has called for stronger action, reinforced partnerships, and renewed national commitment to ensuring that every child in Eswatini is protected, empowered, and able to thrive.
Speaking during the national World Children’s Day commemoration held at Esibayeni Lodge, the DPM emphasised that the country’s promises to its children must translate into meaningful, tangible improvements in their daily lives saying ” We are moving from promises to actions.”
Dladla highlighted that children are not merely recipients of care, but active citizens whose voices deserve respect and meaningful platforms.
Dladla applauded development partners, ministries, and community structures for supporting nationwide efforts to uplift children’s welfare. She made special mention of the emaSwati children who represented the country at the Sub-Regional World Children’s Day Commemoration in Gaborone, praising them for their leadership and courage.
Aligning with the national commitment to children’s rights, Dladla underscored that Eswatini has made notable progress in education access, healthcare, and strengthening child protection systems. However, she warned that challenges such as poverty, disability-related barriers, violence, neglect, and service delivery gaps continue to undermine children’s wellbeing.
She reiterated the Office’s central role in coordinating child-related policies and ensuring they are effectively implemented, stressing that the dignity and welfare of every child remains a national priority.
Calling for unity across sectors, she urged government, partners, and communities to invest strategically in children to build a future where every child thrives. To the children she said, “your voices, dreams, and rights remain at the centre of government efforts.”
