Washington – Rapper Nicki Minaj has amplified her voice on the condemnation of brutal attacks said to be targeting minority Christians in Nigeria.
The international award-winning artist backed President of the US, Donald Trump’s comments on the allegtions of persecution of Christains. She delivered her remarks during an event hosted by the U.S. Embassy to the United Nations where she called for urgent global action to address rising religious intolerance.
Minaj highlighted the worsening situation in Nigeria, noting that Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed, with churches burned and entire families torn apart.
“Communities live in constant fear, simply because of how they pray,” she said, stressing that the crisis demands immediate international attention.
She made it clear that advocating for Christians in Nigeria is not about division, but about “uniting humanity.” Minaj praised Nigeria as a “beautiful nation with deep faith traditions,” adding that when any place of worship church or mosque is destroyed, “everyone’s heart should break just a little bit.” She added that such attacks should shake the very foundation of the United Nations, whose mandate is to ensure peace and security.
The rapper also commended peace builders, faith leaders, and activists who refused to look away as intolerance and extremism increased. Their commitment to strengthening interfaith ties and defending the humanity of all worshippers, she said, is what inspires her to speak out.
Minaj has previously used her global platform to raise awareness about the killings of Christians in Nigeria, an issue the Trump administration placed at the center of its international religious freedom agenda. She reiterated that Trump’s call for urgent action to defend vulnerable communities, combat extremism, and stop faith-based violence remains critical.
Looking ahead, Minaj expressed hope that discussions at the UN event would lead to deeper solidarity and stronger global cooperation. Her message was clear: every person, regardless of their faith, deserves the freedom “to believe, to worship, and to live without fear.”
