Komatipoort, South Africa – On November 16, 2025, a significant seizure was made by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and military police in Mpumalanga, South Africa. While conducting vehicle patrols as part of Operation CORONA, the 14 South African Infantry Battalion, in collaboration with Joint Tactical Headquarters Mpumalanga and Bravo Company of the Military Police, received a tip-off from a passerby about an abandoned truck at the N4 BP fuel station near the Komatipoort Port of Entry.
Upon investigating the vehicle, the team alerted their Platoon Commander and, with the assistance of Lebombo Customs, moved the truck to a secure location. A subsequent assessment by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) revealed a large haul of counterfeit goods, including a vast collection of branded sneakers and jeans.
Among the items recovered were:
- 4146 pairs of Nike sneakers
- 1287 pairs of Adidas sneakers
- 499 pairs of New Balance sneakers
- 251 pairs of Vans sneakers
- 235 pairs of Reebok sneakers
- 279 pairs of Jordan sneakers
- 48 pairs of Lacoste sneakers
- 340 Diesel jeans
- 216 pairs of G-Star jeans
The total value of the confiscated items was estimated at R8,427,600.00.
