Matsapha – His Majesty’s Correctional Services has begun a three-day First Aid training programme to strengthen emergency response within correctional facilities. The course, held at the Matsapha Correctional Staff College, is conducted in partnership with Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society.
Fifty correctional officers are participating in the programme, which aims to equip them with life-saving skills for emergencies involving inmates, colleagues and members of the public. The initiative supports national efforts to enhance frontline capacity and improve safety across institutions.
Commissioner Phindile Sibandze, representing Commissioner General LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini, officially opened the training and praised the Red Cross for its support. She said the knowledge gained will improve HMCS’s preparedness during critical incidents.
Sibandze added that equipping officers with First Aid skills strengthens internal safety while contributing to broader public safety objectives. HMCS also thanked Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society for its role in promoting a safer and more responsive correctional environment.
