Ezulwini – The Ministry of Health has launched the Health Excellence Awards 2025, a national programme recognising outstanding performance across Eswatini’s healthcare system. Acting Minister for Health Apollo Maphalala announced the initiative during an event at Bethel Court in Ezulwini today.
The inaugural awards ceremony is set for 26 November 2025 at The George Hotel in Manzini. The biennial programme aims to improve standards of care, celebrate dedication in the sector, and encourage continuous improvement in public health facilities and programmes.
Maphalala said the awards reflect a vision of accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare for all citizens. “These awards are not just about trophies. They are a strategic catalyst to inspire a culture of excellence where every health facility strives for the highest standards,” he said.
The programme features eight categories, including Best Tertiary and Fraternity Hospital for complex care, Best Health Centre or Public Clinic for primary and community care, and Best Ministry of Health Programme for impactful public health initiatives. Other categories will recognise Best Facility for Health and Safety, Best Individual Contributor, and Best Community Health Motivator for frontline workers.
Maphalala added that the initiative also aims to strengthen accountability and rebuild public confidence in the health system. “Publicly celebrating excellence is one of the ways to restore that trust,” he said.
The ministry is inviting private sector organisations to partner in the awards rollout, supporting sponsorship, the ceremony, and a nationwide awareness campaign to promote quality healthcare across the country.
