Ezulwini – Apostle John Sagoe has called on Eswatini to embrace a combined approach of spiritual grounding, innovation, investment-friendly policies, global positioning, and national unity, saying the Kingdom can transform from a donation-dependent economy into a regional trade powerhouse. Speaking at the Kingdom Leadership Conference, the Ghana-born preacher urged government, churches, businesses, and citizens to align spiritual principles with economic strategy to achieve lasting prosperity.
Sagoe said economic growth without moral and spiritual anchoring is “wealth at risk,” warning that nations collapse when prosperity outpaces ethics and integrity. He stressed that strengthening national prayer, spiritual values, and ethical leadership must underpin the Kingdom’s development.
Calling for bold reforms, Sagoe said Eswatini must invest in artificial intelligence, research, technology, and skills development to compete globally. Quoting Proverbs 4:7, he stated that “wisdom is the principal thing,” underscoring the need for informed decision-making in policy and business.
The preacher urged Parliamentarians to transform Eswatini into a regional trade and investment hub by simplifying business permit systems, creating a free-trade zone, and shifting focus from donors to long-term investors. He said the country should move from subsistence agriculture to commercial, export-oriented agribusiness, supported by irrigation systems, supply chain development, and modern farm-to-market systems, asserting that Eswatini has the capacity to feed both continental and global markets.
Sagoe also encouraged the government and private sector to elevate Eswatini’s global tourism profile by showcasing royal traditions, heritage festivals, and ecotourism assets, arguing that international tourists are seeking authentic African culture rather than replicas.
He warned that national development cannot occur amid division, urging citizens to “think national, not tribal.” Churches, he said, should cultivate ethical political, business, and entrepreneurial leaders who advance national interests over personal gain.
Concluding his address, Sagoe called for large-scale investment in medical research and specialised health institutions, noting that robust health systems are critical for economic productivity and sustainable national growth.
