Manzini — A 41-year-old man from Tincantfwini is back in police custody after he was arrested for allegedly raping an 18-year-old schoolgirl in September 2025. This shocking development comes as the suspect was already out on bail for another rape case involving a 15-year-old minor.

The man’s luck ran out on Thursday at Mhlaleni mountain. What exactly led to his apprehension was a remarkable act of courage: one of his alleged victims spotted him and immediately raised an alarm, leading to a swift citizen’s arrest. The Manzini police quickly moved in to take the suspect into custody.

Police reports detail the horrifying incident in September, where the suspect allegedly approached the 18-year-old victim who was on her way to school in Mkhulamini. Despite the girl not knowing him, he called her by name. After making unwelcome sexual remarks and being rebuffed, he reportedly dragged the girl into the nearby bush and sexually assaulted her. The brave schoolgirl reported the assault to her teachers, who then notified the authorities, setting the police investigation in motion.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Manzini Magistrate Court today to face the new charges.

Separate Attack Shakes Nhlangano

In an entirely separate case, Nhlangano Domestic Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (DCPS) police have arrested a 29-year-old man from Lubulini. The suspect is accused of raping a 32-year-old woman early on Saturday morning, around 5:30 a.m.

Where the attack took place was a local establishment. Both the victim and the suspect had been temporarily hired by a bar owner to conduct stock-taking when the man allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted her. The quick-thinking woman reported the harrowing incident immediately, which led to the suspect’s arrest later the same day. He is scheduled to appear before the Nhlangano Magistrates Court today.
