Mbabane – The government makes its intentions of introducing agriculture-based early warning systems known.
This follows the commissioning of the National Market Assessment Exercise today.
The assessment is expected to benchmark the current agricultural economy trends.
It will make known the extent of how and where farmers meet buyers and whom traded food reaches across Eswatini.
The findings will help the government and our partners develop targeted market support interventions, strengthen early warning systems for food security, inform price monitoring and consumer protection measures, and support smallholder farmers and agribusinesses to thrive in competitive markets.
The ministry aligns the assessment with the Eswatini National Agricultural Investment Plan (ENAIP).
“Understanding how our markets function allows the ministry to improve value chains, stabilise prices, and empower local producers to compete effectively,” the Ministry of Agriculture Under Secretary, Vincent Dlamini, said.
