Mbabane – The Minister of Information, Communications, and Technology (ICT), Savannah Maziya, has been praised by the Municipal Council of Mbabane (MCM) Chief Executive Officer Gciniwe Fakudze for her innovative leadership and support of women’s participation in male-dominated fields.
This comes after Maziya convened a successful luncheon for women in leadership positions where they deliberated on strategies to empower women, particularly those in rural and underserved areas, last Friday.
Fakudze posted on her timeline her praises for Maziya in creating a platform that was able to bring together women leaders who were able to share experiences, challenges, and innovative ideas on how to uplift and support other women in their personal and professional growth.
“In a world that often encourages competition amongst women, you chose collaboration, sponsorship, and genuine celebration,” Fakudze posted. Continuing to pay tribute to Maziya, Fakudze said Maziya was a rare gem.
The luncheon that took place at Ezulwini focused on practical ways to promote financial inclusion, such as leveraging digital platforms to improve access to financial services, encouraging a savings and investment culture among women, and fostering mentorship programmes to nurture the next generation of female leaders.
That meeting, according to Fakudze, left thoughts that are vital in driving inclusive development and ensuring that women, especially those in disadvantaged communities, have access to knowledge and opportunities that enhance their financial independence and participation in the economy.
Fakudze highlighted that they are learning a lot from Maziya, saying that she teaches them that power is not all about being the only woman on the table but about building a bigger table.
Maziya’s engagement comes at a time when Eswatini continues to strengthen efforts toward digital transformation and inclusive growth, ensuring that no one, particularly women in rural communities, is left behind in the country’s journey toward sustainable development.
“Thank you for using your influence not to impress, but to empower,” Fakudze said.
