Durban, South Africa – Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande have returned to South Africa following their extradition from Eswatini. The two brothers, accused of killing superstar rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, were arrested in Mahhwalala, Mbabane in February and handed over to South African authorities on Tuesday after months of legal proceedings in the kingdom.
They arrived at King Shaka International Airport in Durban on Tuesday morning in a high-risk operation led by Interpol in South Africa. Tactical members of the South African Police Service accompanied the brothers during their transfer into South African custody.
The Ndimande brothers are expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court in KwaZulu-Natal today to face multiple charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The extradition had been delayed for several months as the brothers fought to block their transfer but they withdrew their appeal in October, clearing the way for their return. Authorities confirmed that South Africa’s extradition request was properly lodged and approved under SADC protocols.
Their return marks a major development in the investigation of the double murder that shocked the nation in February 2023. AKA and Motsoane were gunned down outside a restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road in what police described as a coordinated hit.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the operation was high-risk and required a strong security presence. Investigating officer Kumarasan Pillay charged the brothers on arrival, and they were transported in a Nyala to court as a safety precaution.
