Manzini – The Mayor of Manzini, Wesley Dlamini, has commended the municipality for upholding accountability and transparency as the city recorded another clean audit for the 2024/2025 financial year.
Speaking during the Municipal Council of Manzini’s annual general meeting held at The George Hotel today, Dlamini said the unqualified audit opinion issued by PricewaterhouseCoopers was proof of the city’s commitment to sound governance and responsible financial management.
“This clean audit opinion demonstrates our unwavering commitment to prudent financial management and good governance,” he said.
The mayor acknowledged that while the municipality continued to make progress, economic challenges had limited its ability to achieve all strategic goals. He revealed that the city is still chasing more than E80 million in unpaid property taxes, funds he said would significantly boost the implementation of the Manzini 2030 Strategy once recovered.
Dlamini extended his appreciation to the chief executive officer, management, and staff for their efforts, as well as to government and stakeholders for their partnership in advancing the city’s development agenda.
He also expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III for his leadership in driving national investment and sustainable urban growth.
