Mbabane- First National Bank (FNB) Eswatini has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs.
Speaking during the 2025 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards gala dinner at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre, FNB Chief Executive Officer, Thokozani ‘TK’ Dlamini, said the institution remains dedicated to empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are a cornerstone of Eswatini’s economy.
Dlamini described the 12-year partnership between FNB and the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (EYA) as a reflection of the bank’s belief that entrepreneurship is a catalyst for national development. “We will continue to support the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards beyond this year’s edition and by partnering with this initiative, we are helping government’s efforts to grow the SME sector, which is adequately positioned as the bedrock for Eswatini’s economic growth.”
Dlamini also highlighted that FNB Eswatini’s 30-year journey in the country has been guided by a mission to foster financial inclusion and build a resilient business community. He noted that the bank’s new strategic pillar, ‘Shared Prosperity,’ underscores its intention to contribute meaningfully to national socio-economic goals.
Dlamini outlined four key focus areas for the bank’s ongoing contribution to national development, which are; financial inclusion, financial wellbeing, climate change, and economic transformation. “We believe it is our obligation to effectively leverage our core business to add value to society, profitably and at scale,” said Dlamini
He commended His Majesty King Mswati III’s leadership and government’s efforts in promoting a business-friendly environment. “We enjoy a seamless working relationship with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, and we can attest that Eswatini truly is open for business,” he said.
Reflecting on FNB’s growth since its establishmentin the country in 1995, Dlamini said the bank remains determined to continue investing in entrepreneurs through training, financial literacy, and innovative banking solutions that enable local businesses to compete beyond Eswatini’s borders.
