Mbabane – Renal dialysis patients at Mbabane Government Hospital will now rest in comfort following the opening of newly refurbished lodging quarters at the facility.
The accommodation, which cost E420 000 to revamp, was officially commissioned this week by the Minister of Health, Mduduzi Matsebula. The upgrade follows his visit to the hospital where he found patients enduring uncomfortable conditions while waiting for or recovering from dialysis sessions. Many of the clients often stayed overnight or for several days due to the nature of their treatment.
The new lodging quarters are fitted with television sets donated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), as well as a kitchen, toilets and bathing facilities. During the launch, Minister Matsebula expressed satisfaction at the improved environment, describing it as a significant step toward better patient care.
Representing the patients, Renal Association Secretary Vusi Nhlabatsi welcomed the development, saying it would ease both the physical and financial strain faced by those undergoing dialysis. “We will save costs and feel safer after evening sessions since we now have a proper place to rest. We feel supported and cared for by the Ministry and the hospital,” he said.
