Mbabane – Parlimant has passed a resolution on the National Agricultural Marketing Board’s (NAMBoard) compelling it to lift restrictions on sugar beans imports.
The Parliament resolution directs the immediate removal of the import restriction, pending a detailed assessment by the House Portfolio Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The restrictions required importers to prove that at least 25% of their stock was procured from local farmers. This measure was introduced on 9 October 2025 to allow local producers to sell their entire harvest and safeguard the domestic market, as farmers had produced a larger yield compared to previous years.
In a statement issued by NAMBoard, the restrictions will be lifted immediately.
