Mbabane – The Eswatini Environment Authority (EEA), through its Ozone Unit, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has thrown its support behind efforts to revitalise the Eswatini Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Association (ERACA).
Yesterday ERACA held its annual general meeting at The George Hotel in Manzini, which brought together technicians, policymakers, and industry players under one roof. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and steering the country’s transition towards sustainable and climate-friendly cooling solutions.
Established in 2011, ERACA has been instrumental in advancing the objectives of the Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP), a national initiative aimed at reducing the use of harmful substances that deplete the ozone layer. Over the years, the association has also played a critical role in enhancing the technical skills of refrigeration and air-conditioning professionals across Eswatini.
During the meeting the different stakeholders underscored the importance of maintaining momentum in the fight against climate change and ozone depletion through professional regulation and knowledge sharing within the industry.
The revitalisation of ERACA is expected to strengthen Eswatini’s capacity to adopt green technologies and align with global environmental commitments under the Montreal Protocol.
