Mankayane – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has arrested and charged a 39-year-old man from Mhlatane for allegedly sexually assaulting his 21-year-old neighbour on two separate occasions. The suspect faces charges under the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act of 2018.
According to police reports, the latest incident occurred on Sunday, 26 October 2025, around 7:30 p.m., when the suspect allegedly attacked and raped the young woman. It has since emerged that this was not the first time the victim had suffered at the hands of the accused he reportedly raped her in September 2023 and threatened her not to report the assault.
Out of fear for her life, the victim kept silent about the 2023 incident until this latest attack prompted her to report the matter to the Mankayane Police. Officers acted swiftly, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Police have since confirmed that the accused was already out on bail for separate murder and rape charges. He is expected to appear before the Manzini Magistrate Court for arraignment.
