Lilongwe – Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable George Chaponda, met with the Trans-Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign delegation led by Honourable Ras Mubarak at the ministry’s headquarters in Lilongwe.
The delegation, which is travelling by road across 39 African countries, is promoting a united and borderless continent where Africans can move, trade, and collaborate freely without visa restrictions. The campaign supports the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which calls for deeper regional integration and continental unity.
During their meeting, the team urged Malawi to champion a visa-free policy for African nationals within the next five years rather than waiting until 2063. They said removing visa barriers would boost intra-African trade, tourism, and create more opportunities for young people across the continent.
Honourable Chaponda welcomed the campaign, describing it as a strong expression of pan-African unity. He said Malawi remained committed to advancing cooperation and solidarity among African nations in line with the AU’s development goals.
