Dar es Salaam – Nsingizini Hotspurs FC President Derrick Shiba says the team’s exit from the CAF Champions League has given them valuable experience and renewed motivation to defend their domestic league title.
Speaking from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, after the team’s elimination from the continental tournament, Shiba said the competition offered crucial lessons for the Eswatini side. He said playing against one of the top clubs in Africa exposed the players to a higher level of football, which will help the club grow stronger in future tournaments.
“Our Champions League journey ends here, but what a battle and what a performance. Heads held high as our focus now shifts to defending our league title so that we can return to the CAF Champions League next year,” said Shiba.
He expressed gratitude to the club’s supporters, known as the “12th player,” for their unwavering backing throughout the campaign. He also commended the players for their spirited performance in their first appearance in the CAF Champions League.
Shiba further extended appreciation to the sponsors, management, and board members for ensuring the team received top-level preparations for the competition.
“As we return home to Eswatini, we are better than before. The experience gained will strengthen our resolve to dominate the domestic league and earn another shot at continental football,” he said.
The Nsingizini Hotspurs president also congratulated the teams that progressed to the group stage of the CAF competitions.
