Kampala — Somalia and Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding allowing visa-free travel for diplomatic passport holders from both countries.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday by Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar, and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samir Sharifov, during the 19th Intersessional Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Foreign Ministers in Kampala.
Officials witnessing the signing included Somalia’s Permanent Secretary Hamza Adan Haadoow, Ambassador Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare Afrah, and several representatives from Azerbaijan.
The MoU aims to strengthen diplomatic relations and enhance bilateral cooperation. The ministers also explored ways to deepen collaboration and identify joint initiatives of mutual interest between the two nations.
