Piggs Peak – A resident of Nyakatfo in the northern Hhohho region has been remanded in custody after police allegedly found 829 kilograms of dagga and an unlicensed firearm at his homestead.
The accused, Robie Siphephiso Hadzebe (47), was brought before Piggs Peak Magistrate Nkosingiphile Maseko on charges relating to the unlawful possession of dagga and possession of a firearm without a valid licence or permit.
According to details presented in court, Hadzebe was arrested following a search operation conducted by police at his residence. Officers reportedly uncovered several bags filled with dagga, with the total weight recorded at 829kg. During the same operation, a single-barrel short gun was discovered. Police noted that Hadzebe failed to produce a valid licence for the firearm.
The court heard that the firearm was in his possession without any supporting documentation, and the dagga was not stored or handled in accordance with any lawful authorisation.
Magistrate Maseko ordered that Hadzebe be remanded in custody until 11 November 2025, pending further court proceedings and the setting of a trial date.
