Ezulwini – MTN Eswatini Head of Corporate Services Sibusiso Nhleko said the company’s policy stance in its utilisation of corporate service initiatives (CSI) programme is investing at least 70% funding into digital skills and digital education.
The telecommunications company founded the MTN Skills Academy, a platform developed to empower the youth with free learning opportunities on digital skills and financial literacy which has 8 202 course enrolments whereby 4 800 have been so far completed by end of September.
Nhleko said they will continue to invest in digital skills while highlighting that the company is still mindful of its investments in basic infrastructure in the country still a problem, including the provision of potable water, building of schools through the Yellow Care and MTN Foundation programmes.
“We are also cognizant of the fact that basic infrastructure in the country is still a problem. So we can talk digital all we like, but if I have no classrooms…,” Nhleko said.
He also said they will soon launch animal tracking and telemedicine or e-health.
“When it comes to health, we’ve been involved in that in terms of rehabilitation of hospitals, buying ambulances, doing cataract programs, and so on and so forth,” Nhleko said.
