Mbabane – The Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development (MTAD) has dismissed claims that Minister S’khumbuzo Dlamini accused Members of Parliament of misusing the Regional Development Fund (RDF).
The clarification comes after an Eswatini Observer article on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, suggested that the Minister had labelled MPs as looters of the RDF.
Minister Dlamini addressed the budget capacitation meeting at Siteki Town Hall, focusing on improving budgeting and financial management skills within Tinkhundla structures. He referred to findings from an RDF impact assessment showing that some beneficiaries who have since gained economic stability continue to receive funds, while poorer communities remain underserved.
The Minister explained that these remarks were intended to point out the need for refining allocation processes, not to accuse MPs of corruption. The Ministry regrets any misinterpretation of the Minister’s statements.
Minister Dlamini reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the RDF supports vulnerable emaSwati, develops community infrastructure, and promotes inclusive national development.
