Mbombela – Orlando Pirates winger Tshepang Moremi says he was instructed by coach Abdeslam Ouaddou to exploit the spaces behind Stellenbosch FC’s defence before coming off the bench to change the game in the MTN8 final.
Moremi entered as a second half substitute at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday and scored twice while providing an assist as Pirates beat Stellenbosch 3-0 to secure their fourth consecutive MTN8 title. His performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
Speaking after the match, Moremi said Ouaddou’s tactical message helped him make the difference. “The coach told me to remain focused and reminded me that there was space behind their defenders. I’m really happy I was able to help the team win,” he said.
The winger also praised substitute Oswin Appollis, who replaced Sipho Mbule in the second half. “That boy is going far. Together we want to keep making our fans happy, and the best is still to come,” Moremi added.
Pirates will next travel to Bloemfontein for a CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Lioli of Lesotho at the Free State Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.
