Manzini – On Thursday, September 4th, a delegation of 30 U.S. city officials visited Manzini as part of the 2025 International City/County Management Association Conference. The delegation toured projects along the Manzini–Mbabane corridor and engaged with local authorities on sustainable urban development.
Chargé d’Affaires Marc Weinstock welcomed the delegation and spoke on the longstanding ties between the United States and Eswatini. He said sister city partnerships, such as the one linking Lancaster, Texas, with Manzini, create opportunities for collaboration, economic growth and sustainable development.
Weinstock also outlined the U.S. strategy of commercial diplomacy in Africa, which aims to empower the private sector through market reforms, infrastructure projects, trade-focused exchanges and stronger links between U.S. businesses and African investment opportunities.
“These partnerships are not just diplomacy,” he told conference participants. “They are bridges between communities that pave the way for a brighter future.”
