Mbabane – The King’s Cup, is proving to be one of Eswatini’s most prestigious golf tournaments, backed with a record E3 million sponsorship packages.
This year’s main tournament winner will take home E240,000, organisers say. This is a massive jump from last year’s E166,000 prize. The total sponsorship package is set to reach E3 million for the first time.
Tournament Director, Vusi Dlamini, made the announcement at the official launch held yesterday at the Hilton Garden Inn. He expressed his delight at the increased prize money.
“We are acknowledging his plea and concerns,” he said. His Majesty King Mswati III is expected to host a gala dinner for the event on September 12.
The main tournament will run from September 10-14, 2025. This year’s event has a guaranteed pre-qualifier prize of E20,000, which was won by Brandon Rennie. According to Dlamini, this ensures a consistent standard between the two tournaments.
The tournament was established as a result of His Majesty King Mswati III’s 2004 Job Creation Summit. It aims to promote economic growth, tourism, and the development of golf in the country.
The event is considered a key part of Eswatini’s national development goals and attracts business people and golfers from Eswatini, South Africa, and other countries in the southern African region.
