Mbabane – Prime Minister Rusell Mmiso Dlamini received the new Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Marc Weinstock, at the Private and Cabinet Office this week.
Weinstock succeeds Caitlin Piper, who had worked closely with the current government to strengthen ties between the two countries. The Prime Minister wished Piper success in her new assignment.
During the meeting, discussions centred on opportunities for collaboration, including food security, border surveillance, and disaster risk management. The reinstatement of key programs funded through USAID and PEPFAR, particularly those focused on HIV/Aids prevention, care, and treatment, was also addressed. The arrival of third-country migrants from the US was another topic of conversation.
The Prime Minister described the United States as one of Eswatini’s most important diplomatic partners, with a relationship built on mutual trust and respect. He welcomed Weinstock to the country, urging him to take advantage of the opportunities before him.
