Hosea – The Eswatini National Nutrition Council (ENNC), in partnership with the Eswatini Red Cross Society, successfully hosted the national Breastfeeding Day commemoration yesterday under the theme “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Creating Sustainable Support Systems.”
The event drew health officials, community leaders, and Members of Parliament, with the Ministry of Health represented by Dr. Shabangu (SMO). Local leaders from Hosea Inkhundla and dedicated healthcare workers also attended.
The commemoration included awareness campaigns on the life-saving benefits of breastfeeding for both infants and mothers, while partners such as Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society and other implementing organisations supported outreach and education activities. Media partners including Eswatini Positive News Times, Channel Yemaswati, and Eswatini TV helped share the event’s message nationwide.
ENNC extended appreciation to the host Gedlembane B83, whose energy and presence contributed to the day’s success. Officials reiterated the Ministry of Health’s commitment to supporting breastfeeding mothers and promoting healthier communities across Eswatini.
