Mbabane – Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, Prince Mshishimba Andreas Dlamini, participated in the Ease of Business Panel Discussion at the Tourism Nkwe Indaba 2025, held today under the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with Eswatini Tourism and HOTAES.
The event was officially opened by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, who described “Nkwe” as a call to action to tackle socio-economic challenges while pursuing the country’s economic goals.
During the panel discussion, stakeholders addressed challenges facing Eswatini’s tourism sector, including access to finance, data, and digital payment gateways for entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs. Panelists agreed that coordinated action is needed to unlock inclusive economic growth and strengthen the backbone of innovation and job creation.
Prince Dlamini outlined government initiatives aimed at empowering local talent and fostering a digital economy:
- Incubation Program: Start-up innovations are nurtured at the RSTP, with several businesses successfully graduated.
- Capacity Building: Developers are trained on the Gov-Stack framework to create scalable, interoperable digital solutions tailored to Eswatini’s needs.
- Strategic Partnerships: Collaborations with the UAE Government, India, and other tech companies will offer online courses to over 300,000 emaSwati, including training 108 girls in space technology. Plans include Google and Amazon academies for talent development.
- E-Commerce: A draft e-commerce strategy is being developed with the Ministry of Commerce to grow Eswatini’s e-commerce ecosystem, including digital payment systems.
Prince Dlamini said these initiatives aim to create an innovative environment that supports local entrepreneurs and advances Eswatini’s digital economy.
