Mbabane: The Regional Development Fund (RDF) managed by the Ministry of Tinkhundla, Administration and Development, continues to be disbursed to different constituencies despite the restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fund’s Coordinator, Cornelius Dlamini, said they cannot wait for the outbreak to settle down before they can reach out to communities due to the economic input which comes with the fund. He said the economy would be enhanced by the proceeds from community projects especially during these calamitous times of the outbreak where the world has seen serious economic nose-dives.

Dlamini mentioned that in the four regions across the country, 800 projects have been targeted and by June 8, they have projected to have reached those communities in the various regions to engage them.

He went on to say the fund has seen the implementation of projects like building and construction, particularly the building of a fully operational school called Ngonini Primary School.

Dlamini disclosed that the fund has also assisted in the installation of potable water projects from where households get clean water, essential during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some beneficiaries have maize milling businesses at their communities where community members get related services close by, adding that some ventured into the transport business where they purchased buses and minibuses while others have bought trucks and tractors, all for the purpose of conducting businesses.
