Mbabane — The Ministry of Health has received assistive devices to support learners with disabilities, supplied through UNICEF and the European Union as part of the country’s disability screening and support program.
Director of Health Services, Dr. Velephi Okello, accepted the items, which include eight customised wheelchairs, nine prescription glasses, and 50 audio and hearing devices. These devices will be distributed to learners identified through the Schools Health Program.
Acting Principal Secretary for Health said the initiative supports Eswatini’s commitment to inclusive education, ensuring children with disabilities can access mainstream learning. He expressed gratitude to UNICEF and the European Union for both financial and technical support, noting their contribution has made the project possible and impactful.
The devices were handed over today under the “Back to School” Project, providing tools that promote opportunity, dignity, and hope for children to reach their full potential.
