MBABANE – Thirty local health workers have completed a three-day workshop on the prevention and management of metabolic chronic diseases, organised by the Taiwan Technical Mission in collaboration with Eswatini’s Ministry of Health.
The training, held this week, focused on improving care for patients living with hypertension, diabetes and related conditions. It aimed to create a uniform approach to treatment and give health personnel greater confidence in handling such cases in their daily work.
Dr. Bo-Wei Su, a family medicine specialist from the National Taiwan University Hospital Hsinchu Branch, led sessions on using blood pressure monitors to screen for arteriosclerosis, even in clinics with limited resources. This method, he said, is vital for detecting early signs of the condition, which can lead to life-threatening complications such as stroke, myocardial infarction and myocardial ischemia if left untreated.
