LOBAMBA – Parents and students of the Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) Advanced School of IT have been left in shock after it emerged that the school’s qualifications are not recognised due to a lack of accreditation.
Minister of Information, Communications and Technology, Savannah Maziya, issued a public apology in Parliament on Tuesday, saying her ministry had only recently learned that the courses offered were never accredited by the Eswatini Higher Education Council.
She told MPs that the ministry was now working with the council to expedite the accreditation process in order to protect students’ academic and professional futures.
The revelation has caused frustration among graduates, who cannot use their certificates for employment or further studies. The development has also raised concerns over millions of Emalangeni spent on scholarships and the years invested by students, with parents and stakeholders calling for accountability and a probe into the oversight.
