RABAT – The Africa CEO Forum, in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), has unveiled LEAD, a pan-African programme designed to develop a new wave of public policy leaders capable of driving sustainable economic transformation across the continent.
The initiative comes as Africa faces the paradox of steady economic growth over the past two decades alongside persistent gaps in public service delivery. Despite a growing GDP, many of the continent’s 1.4 billion citizens continue to experience challenges that hinder both economic development and quality of life.
LEAD aims to equip high-potential young civil servants with the tools, knowledge, and networks to address Africa’s pressing governance needs. The programme will bring together participants from across the continent each year, encouraging collaboration on priority issues such as trade integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), climate adaptation, artificial intelligence regulation, digital transformation, and regional security.
The first cohort will gather at the UM6P campus in Rabat at the end of August, working alongside experts and policymakers to develop strategies grounded in Africa’s realities while learning from global governance successes.
The programme is supported by a coalition of institutions committed to strengthening governance, including BOAD, ARISE Foundation, African Reinsurance Corporation, and ASAFO & CO.
